AWS documentation explains that S3 Intelligent-Tiering automatically moves objects based on access patterns and can be used with lifecycle transitions. This keeps management overhead low while optimizing ongoing storage cost. EFS, DynamoDB, and FSx for Lustre are not appropriate long-term photo object stores for this pattern. Because the company does not want to delete older photos and wants a durable, scalable retrieval solution, S3 plus Intelligent-Tiering is the best answer.
