Metric Groups are the Manufacturing Cloud mechanism for controlling which groups of Sales Agreement metrics are presented to account managers in the Agreement Terms table.
Salesforce states that metric groups organize related standard and custom metrics so users can switch among relevant business views. The administrator selects which metrics appear together, identifies a default metric group, and thereby determines the specific information shown in Agreement Terms.
For organizations that implemented Sales Agreements before metric groups became standard, Salesforce explicitly requires the administrator to enable Metric Groups before configuring the groups. Once enabled, a preset group is created and additional groups can be defined according to business needs.
Custom metrics are required only when the required business data does not already exist among the standard Sales Agreement metrics. The scenario merely states that the organization wants to show specific data points; it does not establish that those points require new custom fields.
Allowing users to add agreement terms does not determine which metrics are presented.
Therefore, the first configuration step for business-specific metric views is to enable and configure Metric Groups.
