That distinction is essential during claim adjudication. Knowing that a product model generally carries a particular warranty does not establish the exact effective warranty period for a specific customer asset. The Asset Warranty Term contains the asset-specific warranty relationship and can reflect extensions or exclusions applicable to that particular asset.

Warranty Term Coverage serves another purpose. It defines restrictions or extensions to a warranty term according to parts, code sets, or other coverage criteria; it does not replace the asset-level warranty relationship.
