The Unmanaged Extension Packages supplement the core Financial Services managed package with configurable user-interface assets and specialized dashboards. Salesforce states that the unmanaged extension package provides field sets used to control how fields appear in client and household profiles. Because these field sets are unmanaged, administrators can customize them to reflect the financial institution ' s required customer information and user experience.

Salesforce also provides a separate Commercial Banking unmanaged extension package, which includes the Commercial Banking dashboard. This dashboard extends the Financial Services implementation with analytics and visualizations relevant to commercial-banking users.

By contrast, custom Financial Services objects and much of the foundational client and household data model belong to the managed package or standard Financial Services data architecture. The managed package also includes functionality such as custom fields and objects, predefined client and household list views, profiles, and administrative configurations. Consequently, predefined list views are not the unmanaged-extension functionality being tested.

The implementation sequence is therefore to install the core managed package first and then install the required unmanaged extension packages to obtain configurable field sets and specialized extensions such as the Commercial Banking dashboard.
