ONTAP igroups can be created with an fcp, iscsi, or mixed protocol type. An iSCSI igroup is therefore valid for presenting the existing LUN specifically to the new iSCSI host. A mixed igroup is also valid because it permits both Fibre Channel and iSCSI initiators and can be used when access to a LUN involves both protocol types. ONTAP permits an igroup to be mapped to multiple LUNs and a LUN to be presented through appropriate SAN igroup mappings. Creating another FC-only igroup would not accommodate the new iSCSI initiator. A subsystem belongs to the NVMe architecture and is used to map NVMe namespaces to NVMe hosts; it is not used for FCP or iSCSI LUN presentation. Thus, both iSCSI and mixed igroups are valid configurations for the requirement.
