Before going any further I can tell you now that there are no “Sort” options of any kind on the General Tabular Operations Menu. Furthermore, there is no “Show Selection” option on that menu either.
1. Select the cities in Spain from the ESRI feature class as the example.
2. Open the attribute table and point out a few features germane to this question.
The cities selected by the query are in blue on the map. There are cities in the Mediterranean and Northern Africa that are part of Spain.
3. Now, let us see those options on the General Operations Menu. So I highlighted the CITY_NAME field; then opened the menu and voila. “Sort” and “Show Selection” are not on this menu.
4. Now I will right‐click on the CITY_NAME attribute and open a different menu. This is where the Sort options are located.
5. At this point the sequence of events is not important. You can sort first and then click the “Show Selected Records” or vice versa. Here is the result:
