A Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) is a physical or logical subnetwork that contains and exposes an organization's external-facing services to an untrusted network, usually the internet. The purpose of a DMZ is to add an additional layer of security to an organization's local area network (LAN). The external-facing resources in the DMZ can be accessed from the internet, but the DMZ provides a barrier that prevents external access to the organization's internal network. This setup ensures secure access to internal assets while enabling internet-based access to selected resources.References: Dell Information Storage and Management V5, Security Mechanisms and Controls,Dell Certification Resource
