HPE Synergy utilizes a master/satellite interconnect architecture to scale connectivity across multiple frames while maintaining a single management point. In this virtualization project, the 30 hypervisors will span across three Synergy frames (each frame holds up to 12 compute modules). To provide the required 50 Gb connectivity per server and the 100 Gb uplinks to the End-of-Row (EOR) switches, a pair of HPE Virtual Connect SE 100 Gb F32 Modules (the " Masters " ) is required in the primary frame. These modules provide the intelligence, the MLAG (Multi-Chassis Link Aggregation) capability, and the high- speed external ports. To extend this fabric to the remaining two frames without adding management complexity, four HPE Synergy 50 Gb Interconnect Link Modules (the " Satellites " ) are used—two per additional frame. This configuration ensures that all 30 servers are managed as a single fabric with shared 100 Gb uplinks, meeting the customer ' s specific MLAG and bandwidth requirements while optimizing cost and cabling.
