ArcusOS abstracts HPE Alletra Storage MP physical capacity into dynamically managed resource pools and virtualizes access to shared NVMe media across the infrastructure. The architectural separation between controllers and storage resources enables processing capacity and flash capacity to be expanded with greater independence than a traditional fixed controller-drive pair. Logical volumes are mapped to internal storage resources through the operating system ' s allocation and protection layers. In switched installations, redundant high-speed NVMe-oF connectivity lets supported controllers communicate with shared backend JBOF shelves. This differs from a simplistic collection of manually maintained RAID sets. RAID protection remains important, but ArcusOS manages placement and logical resources through higher-level abstractions. Dedicated hot-spare drives are not the defining redundancy feature described. The architecture must be planned with suitable failure-domain separation, compatible SSD populations, controller software, and backend switching. Options A and D describe the relevant virtualization and pooling capabilities, while B and C mischaracterize the intended operating model.
