The standard RADIUS attribute used to identify the wireless network is Called-Station-ID. In wireless authentication requests, the Wireless LAN Controller commonly formats this attribute with the access point or controller MAC address followed by the SSID. Cisco ISE can therefore evaluate RADIUS:Called-Station-ID in an authorization-policy condition to determine which SSID the endpoint is using. This satisfies the requirement to use a standard RADIUS attribute rather than a Cisco Airespace vendor-specific attribute. Calling-Station-ID normally identifies the endpoint or supplicant, usually by its wireless MAC address, and therefore does not identify the WLAN name. Airespace-Wlan-Id and Airespace-SSID are Cisco vendor-specific attributes. Although a vendor-specific SSID attribute might also support WLAN matching in certain deployments, it does not meet the explicit requirement to use a standard RADIUS attribute.
