To track AWS costs associated with specific tags, it's essential to activate those tags as cost allocation tags in the AWS Billing and Cost Management console. Even if resources are tagged appropriately, the associated costs won't appear in cost reports until the tags are activated.

To activate user-defined cost allocation tags:

Access the Billing and Cost Management Console:Navigate to the AWS Billing and Cost Management console.

Activate Tags:In the navigation pane, choose "Cost allocation tags." From the list of available tags, select the desired tag keys and choose "Activate."

After activation, it may take up to 24 hours for the tags to appear in cost allocation reports. Once active, these tags enable detailed tracking and allocation of AWS costs across different workloads, projects, or business units.
